Last year in Indiana (my State), more than 63,000 children were reported as being abused or neglected, and over one-third of those were substantiated. 70 children died in Indiana as a result of being abused or neglected, most often at the hands of a family member or friend. Here in (insert community), (insert local statistics).

You can do a search online through google or other basic search engines to find your states stats for child abuse and neglect.

While it is important to take note of these statistics and to learn from them, it is perhaps even more important to prevent abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. That's why April has been designated Indiana Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Awareness Month. Prevention is possible and we encourage all Hoosiers (or everyone in local community) to join us in the effort to stop the pain before it starts.

Here are a few simple ways each of us can help prevent child abuse and neglect:

1. Be a nurturing parent. Children need to know that they are special and loved. Educate yourself about a child's development process so you can have reasonable expectations about what your child can and cannot do.

2. Help a friend, neighbor or relative. Being a parent isn't easy. Someone you know may be struggling with his or her parenting responsibilities. Offer a helping hand.

3. Help yourself. When the big and little problems of everyday life pile up to the point you feel overwhelmed and out of control, take time out. Know where you can turn for help when you need it.

4. Learn how to calm a crying baby. It can be frustrating to hear your baby cry, especially when nothing you do seems to work. Learn what to do if your baby won't stop crying. But, never shake a baby!

5. Get involved. Advocate for services to help families. Ask your community leaders, clergy, library and schools to develop services to meet the needs of children and families.

6. Spend time with your children. Playing with your children, reading to them, or just being with them helps them feel loved. Make time everyday for quality time.

7. Report suspected abuse or neglect. Keeping children safe is the responsibility of every adult in our community. If you have reason to believe that a child has been or may be harmed, call (insert local reporting number). Remember - it's the law in Indiana to report suspected child abuse or neglect.

For more information about how to prevent child abuse and neglect, call Prevent Child Abuse Indiana at 1-800-CHILDREN or 1-800-244-5373.
Or please check out these additional websites on preventing child abuse, child abuse awareness, & advocating child rights:

Please repost this and strive to become more socially aware about this important issue that not enough people care or know about it.

Thanks,

Lee

After almost a year of hardly any shows, we have been pretty much unactive but over the best few months we are back on track. With a small lineup change and a new outlook were back on track and prepared to give a punk rock and hardcore a much needed slap in the face. Tons of out town and local shows coming up. Tour being planned for the summer and a soon to be announced label released our music finally.

Be prepared for the 2nd coming of passionate hardcore.

It seems to be that time again. I wish I had the time and patience to give a better listing of all of these, and knock out the best demo's and 7inch ive heard over the past year. But here is a quick run down of the albums that cought my year of the past year and the one who seem to actually still know what hardcore is.

Top-10 Hardcore Releases of 2005 (in my eyes of course):

1. Kill Your Idols: From Companionship to Competition
2. Modern Life is War: Witness
3. 7 Seconds: Take It Back, Take It On, Take It Over!
4. Ringworm: Justice Replaced by Revenge
5. This is Hell: Self-Titled
6. Blacklisted: The Beat Goes on
7. Bane: The Note
8. With Honor: This is Our Revenge
9. Madball: Legacy
10. Wait In Vain: Demo

It pretty much going around in the media that a few trailor home parts got smashed by this horrid tornado 2 nights ago in my home town. But there were plenty of other houses, business, that got demolished. Trust me there are more than just trailor parks in Evansville, It's a beautiful city but it seems like the media is having a hay day with the trailor parks because that was where most of the deaths accured.

I grew up in Newburgh, where the tornado hit and it pretty much slammed through the county which is about 10 minutes from my apartment in Evansville.
We have small tornado hit every few years but this was the worst it has ever been.

Here is a news link over the events that happend: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051106/ap_on_re_us/midwest_tornado

So I was bored yesterday day evening trying to get my record/cd collection in order finally, trying to organize 500 cd's and about 100 records is not a easy task, I moved apartments about 2 months ago and have yet to get everything in order.
Anyway, I ran across a few albums by this band I havent listend to in years and came to the conclusion....

[Disembodied was the heaviest and still is the heaviest hardcore band that ever was.]

I would travel to see this band band peform a reunion show, hell I flew to Seattle to see Trial play.
I set my bank account back about a total of $400, but hell who's counting.
Oh yeah for people who asked how my Seattle Trip was....

I have 2 words for you: Fucking Amazing

I'm to much of a lazy ass to give a full out detail of my 3 day trip. Lets just say I had the best 3 days of my life. I Meet amazing people, bands, record stores, restraunts and fell in love with the city and everything about it. To my suprize I also hung out with the most awesome female that has I have ever came in contact with.

108

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I attended a few shows last weekend in the Philly/New Jersey area on my route to what was going to be HellFest, I’m actually glad it got canceled because I had a more enjoyable time at the 2 shows I attended Saturday then just a single show with about 20 bands I could really care less about. I didn’t get to catch the Lifetime shows because they sold out of tickets in less then 5 minutes but it was a trip well worth spent.

I finally got to see the 108 reunion show, the main reason I made the way too fucking long journey from Indiana to Philly. The show was amazing, 108 live was beyond words.
It’s so nice to see a band do a reunion show for the right reasons and just blow everyone away with their performance, because I have seen some shitty ones *cough* BOLD *cough* and a few others I dare not mention.

Anyway, I could go into tons of details on how much this bands mean to me and what they have done/did for hardcore and why the state of hardcore sucks at times when it comes to true and compassionate bands but I wont, because I’m already sick of typing in this journal.

But here are a few picks I found of the show online so take a look on what you missed out.

Pick set 1

Pick set 2

P.S. Seems that 108 is back together now from what I found today: http://www.b9board.com/viewtopic.php?t=166600
